JUNGLE JOURNEY
Imagine, if you will, a journey through
some of the most treacherous Central American
jungle and we, as a church must pass through
it together. As your pastor God has appointed
me to take the lead on the path to get us
all through safely. As we weave our way
through this jungle there are many dangers.
We will encounter quick sand near the edge
of the path and numerous enticing side trails
that call out to us leading to a lake called
"heartache". As we proceed, the
path becomes narrower and the Lord allows
me to see the traps and to warn you of them,
and then you in turn will pass the word
down the line so those following will also
receive the warning.
As leader, each week I'll take you from
one point to another. Occasionally while
cutting the trail I feel led to stop and
count heads. It is easy to see those directly
behind but through the foliage it looks
like some are growing wary and slipping
back. They probably can't even see the leader
and are struggling to keep us with those
directly in front of them.
So we'll wait and rest in the presence
of the Lord. Then we'll break camp and head
out again. But, some precious ones are still
missing and must have taken the wrong turn
in the trail. Some of the side trails are
quite appealing but deceptive. We all started
out together but now some are injured and
are swimming in Lake Heartache.
As your pastor, I regularly seek God for
those who call Old Town "Home",
believing He'll give directions to take
us through this journey called, "Life",
that delivers us safely to the Promise Land.
I believe with all my heart that God's desire
is that you continue on the "safari
of life", Sunday after Sunday, so you
don't miss the next leg of the journey.
A hit and miss approach can be a dangerous
way to navigate the trail.
I appeal to you to make church attendance
a top priority in your life!
Your Pastor and Leader on the Trail,
Pastor Don
