Volunteers are welcome to serve at either the weekday soup kitchen, or the Saturday food and grocery give away.

Old Town Soup Kitchen is open to those who need a nutritious hot meal every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Volunteers are needed for food preparation, serving, and cleanup. Volunteers are accepted from churches, the  court systems, or anyone in the community that is interested in serving  those in need.

Volunteers should be prepared to work from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.   Comfortable shoes, and proper attire is requested.  Volunteers should come to the soup kitchen by 9:00a.m. and ask for Woody, Bill, or Kim, who will assign duties for that day.  A cheerful, willing spirit is always a plus!

Old Town provides groceries every Saturday to those in need.  Regardless of the time of year, the weather, or holidays, food is still distributed EVERY Saturday.   Over 150 tons of groceries were distributed last year, and the need in our community is increasing.  An average of 150-200 families are served each Saturday. Volunteers who would like to help with the grocery giveaway should be available to work from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Grocery distribution is done outdoors, so volunteers should dress for the weather.  Be at the church office  at 600 Gratiot in Saginaw, by 9:00 a.m., and ask for Jerry Thomas or Chuck Lynes, who will assign duties.

Churches or groups of five (5) or more people who wish to volunteer are asked to call the church office  at (989) 249-8696, and schedule your group so that we can prepare assigned duties ahead of time.  Our church office is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. to schedule your group and answer any questions you may have.
