"Behold the Lord cries unto the city." Micah 6:9 He cares about the lonely, the poor and the hungry. Old Town also cares and demonstrates that care through the Soup Kitchen. The Old Town Mobile Soup Kitchen was birthed in 2009 due to the needs of the community. Though envisioned for those on the West Side of Saginaw, clients come from all over the Saginaw metro area. An "Annex" was purchased and a 24’ trailer has been added to the mobile Soup Kitchen for the distribution of clothing. Various buildings on the block were purchased in anticipation of expansion. In February of 2008 the Old Town Soup kitchen program was expanded to include a new building that serves hot meals Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This program is supported by Churches, corporations, various organizations, and many individuals. Clients include the unemployed, under employed, retired and others who, for various reasons, are unable to work. Approximately 25-30% who come are children under the age of 7. We have the capacity to serve 288 people per day.
The Soup Kitchen on Saturdays still flourishes with a bagged lunch, groceries, clothing, and household items being distributed. In 2009 Old Town served a total of 40,186 meals and nearly 150 tons of groceries. As a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation the Old Town food program and clothing outreach can use your support.
